This podcast is a revisionist history that egregiously misrepresents the role of the Catholic Church in the AIDS crisis. The Church impeded public health communication and compounded prejudice that hindered the government's response. O'Loughlin is not an objective "journalist," but a practicing Catholic employed by a Jesuit magazine. Gay kids raised Catholic are still taught that they are sick and sinful (See couragerc.net). Don't be fooled just because the Church got better at public relations.

Read: Kayal, GMHC and the Politics of AIDS. It was great Catholic physician, Kevin Cahill who immediately saw the threat of HIV and wrote his client Archbishop T. Cooke to open Catholic Hospitals for AIDS care. Also there is an original AIDS painting called "Wise Men bearing Gifts to the Virgin," by Fr. Bill McNeil which was the first Catholic religious on art on AID. I have a copy. Really early-on. Virgin is carrying a Karposi Sarcoma infected gay man.

Gays will never be free until we eradicate the bible. The bible is not the word of god nor is it inspired by god. The bully in the play ground is the Church and its holy hoax. Roman Catholics are responsible for insouciance, they have birthed this moral decay. By giving a human being powers of a divine, Catholics abdicated their direct relationship to god. This abdication is at the root of homophobia and internalized homophobia. I'm sick and tired of these fluff pieces. Enough is enough.
