Latina actress and singer Selena Gomez has cancelled the final stages of her international concert tour after disclosing to the public that she has lupus, Fox News Latino reports. The 21-year-old has had the autoimmune disease for several years. As a result of her hectic lifestyle, Gomez has had multiple “flares” recently, which have caused facial swelling, extreme fatigue and joint pain, which are symptoms typical of the disease. Lupus is a disorder in which the immune system attacks, inflames and damages cells and tissues. The disease is most prevalent in black, Latino, Native American and Asian women between the ages of 15 and 35, and it has no cure. Gomez will be taking time off to address the disease and “live a full and healthy life.”
