female condom

The Female Health Company, which manufactures and markets the FC2 Female Condom, launched an online direct-to-consumer store to sell the condoms, according to a press release by the Chicago-based company.

The female condom is inserted in the vagina before sex—an inner ring helps with the insertion, while a softer ring remains outside the body to hold the condom in place. It’s the only woman-controlled condom. Like the male condom, it prevents pregnancy, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

A box of three FC2 condoms, made of nitrile, costs $5.99 on the Female Health website.

The Female Condom is also available on Walgreens.com and Drugstore.com. And it has been available in 143 countries.
