National Latino AIDS Awareness Day 2011
Saturday, October 15, is National Latino AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD), the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month, which starts each September 15. “Latinos unite! Let’s stay healthy! Get tested for HIV” is this year’s NLAAD theme, which highlights the importance of other health issues, such as tuberculosis, viral hepatitis and other sexually transmitted infections. Established in 2003 by the Latino Commission on AIDS and the Hispanic Federation with other groups nationwide, NLAAD promotes much-needed HIV/AIDS awareness in the Latino community.
